Knockout

Knockout is gritty and raucous, slathered with jazz rhythms and harmonies just bizarre enough to work.  Despite its outwardly aggressive tone, it is the embodiment of pure fun; musical themes are heavily imbued with an undeniable groove as they flirt with tonality and atonality.  Written in a loose rondo form, triumphant fanfares and driving themes are interspersed with smoky, mysterious contrasting sections.  The sound world created in this piece is familiar enough and strange enough to be wholly, and rudely, delightful.
